Federer Bounces Back In Doubles!!

Roger and Stanislas Wawrinka have beaten Indian rivals Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the Olympic semifinals. The pair played an incredible game that left Paes stunned who later said: "Federer is the best player in the world. Unfortunately we got stuck with him playing unbelievably well. I am still trying to figure out what we could possibly have done." The pair will now play American twins Bob and Mike Bryan, later on Friday to fight for the silver medal.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROGER!!

Today, August 8 2008, 8.8.08, is Roger Federer's 27th Birthday and it seems to be an extremely special one. Carrying your country's flag in the opening ceremony of the Olympic games is quite a birthday treat. Not to mention having your birthday on a day considered to be extremely auspicious by the Chinese. I wish Federer a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and lots of luck for the upcoming games.

Federer Loses #1 Position

Federer will lose his number one singles ranking for the first time in four and half years to Rafael Nadal on August 18, 2008. He looks forward to Beijing and the U.S Open to turn the year around. His year, however, was not so tragic as many suppose. Federer reached his 17th consecutive Grand Slam singles semifinal and his 16th Grand Slam final, tying him with Bjorn Borg for fourth most in history, not to mention tying Pete Sampras's era record for most titles on grass after winning the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany. Not bad for a "disappointing year."
